Residential T1

We all know that a T1 line is an extremely fast way to connect to the Internet. At a 1.544mb capacity, T1 lines are usually the option of choice for businesses and corporations, who need very high bandwidth. But why not enjoy this level of speed and bandwidth at your own home? Why settle for less? A residential T1 line may be the solution for you if you demand extremly fast Internet connectivity and high levels of bandwidth at home.

Historically, T1 connections for resident use have been restricted by two main factors: availability and cost to the consumer. As for availibility, residential T1 line connections are now becoming available throughout most of the country. Just check with your some local providers in your area to ensure availability. In most cases, availability is no longer an issue.

But the cost of a T1 line for the residence is still rather prohibitive. You are most likely to pay $400-$600 per month to maintain a T1 line in your house. The rates are usually dictated by the provider, the distance from your house to the network hub, and the length of your contract commitment.

It is possible to purchase fractional connection (a part of T1 capacity) at a lower cost, but the cost will still run into the hundreds of dollars per month.

Operating a T1 line in your home may be worth the cost to you, but for most residential applications, a normal broadband cable or DSL connection is sufficient.
